For proper support, install four stabilizers per railcar, one at each end of the car, at the designated location for jacking or lifting the car. Always brake and chock car first, then install stabilizers. Check stabilizer contact with car body at intervals during unloading as car may rise as it lightens.

  • GENERAL CAUTIONS

    • Rail car must be standing on flat track. Never use stabilizers on sloped track.
    • Car brakes must be applied and steel wheel chocks applied at both ends of car before installing stabilizers.
    • Use 4 stabilizers per car, installed at designated Lifting/Jacking pads near ends of car.
    • Place stabilizers on firm, flat surface capable of supporting the load.
    • Raise screws to make snug contact with underside of Lifting/Jacking pad.
    • For best performance, do not extend screw beyond the half-way point of its rise.
    • Do not use stabilizers to lift railcar.

    WHEN UNLOADING A RAIL CAR

    • As rail car is unloaded, car body may rise. Adjust height of screw as necessary to maintain constant snug contact with car.

    WHEN LOADING A RAIL CAR

    • After car is loaded, use caution when lowering stabilizers. Use 40” turning bar provided. Lower all stabilizers slowly and simultaneously. If stabilizers are not lowered slowly and simultaneously, car body may lift sideways, causing stabilizers to pop out from under car.

    CAR REPAIR

    • Stabilizers is designed to be secondary support to power-lifting jacks. During wheel assembly change-out. Do not use jack for any other purpose. Do not use this stabilizer as primary or sole support when lifting a railcar during repair work.
    • Rail car must be securely blocked to prevent movement in both directions.
    • Install stabilizers behind power lifting jacks, making contact with Lifting/Jacking pads, one stabilizers on each side.
    • Do not use stabilizers to lift railcar.
    • No worker should be under a raised railcar at any time when using this product.
    • Use stabilizers in pairs or multiple pairs, as the situation requires.
    • Leave no daylight between stablizer top cap and lifting/jacking pad.
